Frequently Asked Questions
IPL PhotoFacial Skin Rejuvenation
-
Photofacial treatments are powered by Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology to safely and effectively fade common signs of premature aging; including sun spots, discoloration, visible veins, and fine lines and wrinkles. IPL may be used for these changes on the hands, neck and chest as well. It is safe, non-invasive and is tailored to the individual client’s skin.
Since Venus Versa™ is FDA approved, the IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation is a safe and effective way to restore a more youthful aesthetic eliminating surgery and Botox.
-
Generally we recommend 3-4 IPL PhotoFacial treatments (each 3 weeks apart) depending on the amount of damage to the skin for the most optimal results. After the initial series, maintenance sessions are encouraged. Most of the damage to our skin occurred early on in life. What brings it to the surface is more sun exposure.
-
It is not safe for excessively tanned skin, recently sun-tanned skin or for anyone who may receive excess sun exposure in the immediate weeks following treatment. This treatment is not advisable for women who are pregnant or breast feeding, anyone with metal implants such as pacemakers, current or history of cancer, poorly controlled endocrine autoimmune disorders, diseases that may be stimulated by light such as epilepsy, those with a history of keloids, fragile skin, abnormal wound healing response, anyone taking Accutane, any active condition in treatment area such as eczema, psoriasis or rash, and those who use medication, herbs, supplements and vitamins know to induce photosensitivity. For individuals who get fever blister attacks (herpes simplex), an anti-herpes medication should be taken prior to treatment.
-
Each IPL Photofacial Skin Rejuvenation treatment lasts 15-30 minutes. We will remove all make-up, sun block and face creams. Men will be asked to shave on the day of treatment, prior to their arrival. Eye shields will be applied to protect the eyes. A cool soothing gel will be applied on the skin prior to treatment, which will help reduce any discomfort. After the procedure, you will be given any additional post-treatment instructions.
-
The IPL PhotoFacial Skin Rejuvenation treatment requires little to no downtime. You may resume normal activities immediately following the treatment including applying fresh makeup. Following treatment, you may experience redness similar to a mild sunburn, which should subside after 24 hours. For the first 48 hours, avoid anything that creates heat — hot baths, saunas, massages, and exercise. Avoid direct sun exposure, immediately after treatment for 7-10 days. Wear adequate sun protection. Pigment present in the treated area will usually darken. This is referred to as “microcrusting”. Do not pick or scratch these areas. They will naturally flake off in 3-14 days depending on the area of the body treated. We will provide you with complete take home instructions about your post treatment care.
TriBella Skin Rejuvenation
-
The TriBella™ photofacial treatment corrects discoloration, fades age spots, reduces sun damage, and improves skin tone. Next, the anti-aging treatment erases fine lines, reduces wrinkles, and firms up skin. Lastly, the skin resurfacing treatment smoothens out uneven skin texture, scars, rosacea, enlarged pores, stretch marks, and other skin textural conditions.
PHOTOFACIAL
TriBella™ photofacial uses precise bursts of intense pulsed light to improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and sun damage. The light targets and reduces the hemoglobin pigment inside visible blood vessels and dark pigmented spots. The result is glowing, younger-looking skin.
ANTI-AGING
TriBella™ anti-aging uses a comfortable combination of energy types to produce heat beneath the skin, helping to promote healthy blood flow and increase the production of collagen and elastic fibers. The result is skin that looks tighter and younger, and with fewer lines or wrinkles.
SKIN RESURFACING
TriBella™ skin resurfacing improves skin texture by delivering energy deep into the skin, using tiny electrode pins to create micro-dermal wounds with minimal impact on the epidermis. As the skin heals, it naturally boosts collagen and elastin production for total skin renewal.
-
The best candidate is someone with signs of skin aging and damage, such as lines, wrinkles, uneven complexion, or uneven texture. Venus Versa™ TriBella™ treatments work to improve the look of skin tone, elasticity, and texture. Kristen will help you to decide what is the right course of action for your concerns. You may not be able to get this treatment if you have excessively tanned skin, a history of skin disorders, implants in the treatment area, or an active condition that can be stimulated by light or heat.
-
TriBella™ consists of three treatments—photofacial, anti-aging, and skin resurfacing. Photofacials are powered by Intense Pulsed Light technology, which targets the pigment in your skin. They tend to work best for light to medium skin tones, because the heightened stimulation poses a greater risk of discoloration to patients with more pigment in their skin. Darker skin types may be candidates for the treatments separately, but not necessarily together in one session. It’s best to consult with Kristen to see if the treatment is right for you. -
Three TriBella™ treatments are recommended for optimal results. You will see some results after the treatment series is complete, but full, best results are visible approximately three months after the last session. Kristen will discuss your own customized maintenance program to ensure you continue to enjoy your youthful appearance.
-
Treatments are done 4-5 weeks apart.
-
Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams, or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You must also avoid tanning, including with self-tanners. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.
-
One session usually lasts around one and a half hours.
-
Different procedures feel differently. The photofacial treatment may feel like a light snap against your skin. The anti-aging treatment will be warm, and most patients consider it very comfortable. However, the skin resurfacing treatment comes after the skin has already been heavily stimulated, and is thus more sensitive, meaning this treatment may be less comfortable than the other two; you may feel a pricking sense of heat as the applicator moves around on your skin.
-
Your skin may feel warm, like a sunburn, and can remain red for up to a few days. Be sure to follow instructions for before and after your treatment.
-
It depends on how your skin reacts to the treatment and how you care for your skin afterward. For example, if you protect your skin from the sun, the results will last longer. We recommend one touch-up session every six months to maintain best results.
-
You can expect 3-5 days of downtime.
-
We recommend using sun protection of SPF 30 or greater, beginning 24-48 hours after the skin has fully healed. Direct sun exposure, tanning beds, and artificial sunless tanning lotions are not allowed in the treatment areas during the course of the treatment and healing. Avoiding direct sun exposure should become a permanent component of your long-term skincare program. You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first two to three days after your treatment.
-
Avoid applying anything to the face aside from what’s recommended by your treatment provider and the treatment instructions. When you are able to put on makeup after a few days, as per your treatment provider’s instructions, be sure to apply sun protection.
Venus Diamond Polar Skin Tightening & Wrinkle Reduction
-
Venus Diamond Polar RF (RadioFrequency) Skin Tightening™ and Wrinkle Reduction treatment is a quick, non-invasive treatment that is highly effective in tightening skin and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
This FDA approved skincare system uses Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields (PEMF), which provide you with the added benefits of increased oxygen, nutrients, and blood flow through the skin, giving it an immediate, long-lasting glow.
Skin tightening and wrinkle reduction occur because the radio frequency causes a thermal reaction in the tissue, which stimulates the body’s natural healing response. This restoring response causes new collagen to form, along with the increased production of fibroblasts and new elastin fibers.
The active collagen in the skin contracts, achieving a tighter appearance, along with softening of wrinkles and fine lines. Unique electrode placement allows for treatment around the eyes, along the jowls, and other smaller areas.
RadioFrequency (RF) skin rejuvenation, also referred to as “skin tightening”, is considered one of the biggest breakthroughs for anti-aging. Treatments with this applicator are comfortable with no downtime, and RadioFrequency (RF) technology is proven safe for all skin types.
-
This treatment is suitable for anyone looking to TIGHTEN and FIRM their skin. Regardless of your age, skin type or gender — if you are looking for a procedure that firms and tightens without any downtime, then the Venus Diamond Polar is the treatment for you. Venus Diamond Polar should not be used on client's who have recently had filler injections in the desired treatment area. Client's that are pregnant, breastfeeding or undergoing IVF procedures may not undergo Diamond Polar treatments.
-
This gentle procedure requires no prep or numbing cream. Following a quick cleansing, a special gel will be applied to the treatment area to help the treatment tip glide over the skin. A treatment will take approximately 15-30 minutes from start to finish depending on the treatment area. Most clients compare the sensation of the Diamond Polar to a hot stone massage. Some clients even fall asleep during their treatments.
-
When being used for anti-aging, we typically suggest starting out with 6 treatments for the face and 8 for the neck, done once per week to once a month for best results. Maintenance treatments are recommended following this series, to be done once every 3 to 4 months.
-
There is little to no downtime with the Diamond Polar, making it an excellent lunchtime lift. Some patients may notice a little flushness or warmth to the skin from the heat that may last up to 3 hours. It is important that you do not apply any ice or cooling compresses to the skin following treatment as the heat is a response to the natural healing process.
-
Though some results may be visible within 2 to 3 weeks, best results will be noted 6 weeks after your last treatment.
IPL Dual Light Acne Treatment
-
Dual light acne technology treats both the underlying cause and the visible symptoms of acne using a combo blue & red light while real-time cooling ensures a comfortable treatment. Blue light destroys acne bacteria and red light reduces inflammation. For the most optimal results, six to eight treatments, one to two times per week is recommended. Requires sun restriction.
-
The blue light targets the acne-causing bacteria in the oil glands. This bacteria contain a certain type of pigment that, when activated by the blue light, destroy the bacteria from the inside out. By eliminating this underlying cause of acne, the skin is better able to recover and blemishes will begin to disappear. At the same time, the red light emitted from the applicator works to reduce the inflammation of existing acne and promote faster healing. Because red light can penetrate farther into the layers of skin, it’s better able to treat deeper pores and can help with reducing the production of acne-causing sebum. Research has shown that when blue and red light are administered together, the results are much better than with just blue light alone.
-
The best candidate is someone who has acne and/or acne-related inflammation on the face or body.

Your skin can feel warm, like a sunburn, with some redness. But other than that, you really shouldn't feel any different if you follow instructions for before and after your treatment.
-
It really depends on the severity of your skin and how well you take care of your skin after your treatment. A touch-up session twice a month, then monthly is recommended. Once the acne starts clearing up, you can then increase the time between maintenance treatments depending on how your skin responds to the treatment.
-
There is minimal to no downtime. You can return to your daily schedule immediately after your treatment.
-
Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment, and wear sunscreen (at least SPF 30). You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. You can go back to gentle washing and using gentle, non-irritating products immediately afterward.
-
The Blue and Red Acne Light Therapy treatment works best for light to medium skin tones. The treatment may work on darker skin, but there is a higher risk of discoloration because darker skin has more pigment in it.
-
Although you will see progressive results after each treatment, most clients receive a total of 7-8 treatments for the most optimal results.
-
Treatments are usually done twice a week for a month. Treatments should be scheduled 3-4 days apart.
-
Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You should also avoid tanning. You may be advised to shave the area before your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.
-
One session usually lasts 15-20 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
Venus Versa Hair Removal
-
Venus hair removal treatments work with advanced technology that targets and destroys the follicle under the skin's surface. Over time, this significantly reduces hair growth, with results that last longer than shaving, waxing, plucking, or depilatory creams. Our Venus Versa™ hair removal devices use laser and IPL technologies that target hair when it is in the growth phase, and is most responsive to treatment, producing noticeable results with little discomfort while .
-
Hair removal treatments are fast, even on larger areas like the back or two full legs. It’s also ideal for treating multiple areas, like the bikini area and underarms.
Depending on what part of the body you’re getting treated, smaller areas may only take as little as 15-30 minutes. A larger area, like two full legs, may take up to 60 minutes.
-
The applicator has a built-in cooling feature to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, but you might feel a bit of discomfort if you’re treating a more sensitive area, like along the bikini line. If you find it too uncomfortable, let your treatment provider know and they can adjust the settings accordingly.
-
Be sure to gently clean the treated area twice a day and apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 before going outside; however, avoid excessive sun exposure. You should also avoid hot baths, massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment. Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks afterward.
-
Treatments are done 4-6 weeks apart for the face and 4-8 weeks apart for the body. Because hair grows in three stages, you want to try your best to avoid missing a session.
